Eat only meat?

What is it:

The Carnivore Diet strictly consists only of animal-based foods including meat, fish, eggs, and some dairy products.

How it works:

By eating only animals and excluding all plant-based foods, it is said to help you lose weight, prevent disease, and offer other health benefits.

Some potential health benefits:

May help you feel fuller due to increased protein intake leading to a reduction of overall calories and weight-loss.

May help you remove high-carb, processed foods from your diet.

May provide you with many important nutrients.

Some potential health risks:

Plant-based foods provide many beneficial nutrients such as fiber, flavonoids, and other vitamins and minerals.

Consumption of too many animal products may lead to weight-gain and other health problems.

Processed meats can contain excess amounts of preservatives, sodium, and other additives that may be harmful to overall health.

Our take:

We believe that there are many nutritional benefits from animal-based foods. Grass-fed, humanely-raised animal products provide a plethora of nutrients that are important to our health. However, plant-based foods also provide many valuable nutrients that can’t be found in animal foods alone. Like always, diet will depend on the individual, but a diet consisting of both animal and plant products offer many of the nutrients we need to stay healthy and prevent disease.

And remember, whenever you begin to make changes to your diet, never make drastic changes, always make slow changes over a longer period of time!
